As the autumn season approaches and many people get festive, Starbucks brings out their fall menu. Some of their items include the pumpkin spice latte, an apple crisp cream chai, an apple croissant, and the pumpkin chai. The fall menu brings out the relaxing and cozy atmosphere that transitions people to the hectic holiday season. However, are the items on the fall menu trendy hype or seasonal staples?
The most popular beverage is the pumpkin chai according to barista Anna Long. When asked about the fall menu, Anna believes that the pumpkin spice latte is overrated, “I just think it does not deserve the obsession.” While not overrated, but controversial, the apple brown sugar flavor is loved by some and hated by others. If you are in the fall spirit and want to try something new, Anna recommends the apple croissant saying, “the pastry mixed with the fruit is the perfect blend.”
Although it seems that fall drinks are all the rage, not everyone gives into the hype. Students were asked about their opinions on the fall menu. Haylee Rubio went to Starbucks with her friend and tried out the menu. She comments, “All the additives can add up. Our drinks were thirteen dollars and I got a small.”
“The drinks are overpriced, and they put too much syrup, and it gives me headaches,” complains another student.
“Why would I get pumpkin as something fallesque? I would rather have something cinnamon.”
To embrace the fall season, many students get the pumpkin cream cold foam chai latte.
“It’s delicious, hot or cold,” Keenan Brunner adds.
“I get the pumpkin cream cheese muffin—ten out of ten—and the pumpkin spice latte—ten out of ten,” rates Kallie Leik.
The question remains: Is the Starbucks fall menu overhyped? It all boils down to your personal ideals for fall. For some people, the crisp apple and pumpkin flavors feel like autumn in a cup. The menu screams fall and captures its essence. However, it is more expensive for some of the limited time options. If you don’t mind paying the price for seasonal delight, then the Starbucks fall menu items are for you.
