Here at HHS, fall has arrived and so has its fashion, which means the season of color, texture, and comfortability in the fashion world is here. Many students have unique styles, but they have some similarities as demonstrated by the colors students wear: “gray, navy and rust orange and hunter green too,” “grays, browns, and whites,” “I usually wear orange and blue,” “dark colors, maybe gray,” “I usually wear orange and blue,” and “normally like colors like brown and black more like neutral colors.” This shows the color similarities of student fall fashion.
Another part of fashion are trends. The current fashion trends for fall are leather, Boho style, jeggings, shell jackets, belts, denim dresses, sheer pieces, denim vests, and COS vests. But some students at HHS choose to wear their own unique styles, and some follow or allow society’s fashion trends to have some influence. Many students claim they follow their own style, but others do admit that they follow trends and let others influence them in what they wear. This demonstrates that some students like to follow trends and some like to show their own sense of fashion.
The next aspect of fashion are the elements of fashion which are texture, color, shape, and design. According to some students they say that they include these elements in their fashion decisions. Claims made by students regarding this are as follows: “Probably all of them,” “All and comfort,” “Usually all,” “All of them,” “mostly color,” “All of them,” and “I try to go for comfort. I go for long sleeve shirts, like the ones that button a lot.” This illustrates that many students decide to use all the elements of fashion when creating their outfits, and some also cite comfortability as another element of their decisions for their outfits.
An additional part when it comes to fashion is accessories because accessories are always to tie the fashion pieces all together. Some students have said many different and unique types of responses in their choices for this aspect, such as: “Yeah I like to add gold jewelry, like dainty gold necklaces and earrings,” “Just jewelry like necklaces and earrings,” “I know a lot of outerwear but accessories wise no not really,” “I like to add necklaces and bracelets,” “Normally just jewelry like I feel like gold jewelry just goes with fall,” “No accessories,” and “I like bracelets, like string bracelets.” This shows the variety of accessories that some students choose to style up their fall outfits and take them to the next level.
Finally, last but certainly not least, the last aspect of fall fashion is hairstyles. Hairstyles are another way in the fashion world to bring an outfit together or to elevate an outfit. According to some students here at HHS, these are the hairstyles they like to do during the fall season: “I like to do braids, like double French braids and curls,” “Just have my hair down,” “I usually wear my hair in a ponytail or a braid or just down,” “Same all year round,” “I like half-up-half-down,” “I like to do braids in fall and just half-up-half-down looks,” and “Same hairstyle all year round.” This exemplifies that there are many varieties of hairstyles that change from the seasons or from the person’s style.
Overall, fashion is an art form and a type of self expression, especially during the fall and spring seasons. But at HHS, there are different aspects of fashion that all have a theme of neutral colors, gold jewelry, and some other unique fashion choices. Also, some members of HHS either do not follow the fashion trends of society or do a mix of both their own style and the current fashion trends.
