France has a major impact on the world. People speak French in many different parts of the world. French language courses are offered at Hempfield. This article will cover posters made by those classes and digital stories made for their adopted snail.
In the French 1 class, students made a display in the commons to display National French Week. They learned about different French figures and facts about them. They were making flags of other French-speaking countries as well. National French Week this year was from November 6th to 12th. 300 million people in the world speak French. They created promotional posters to inform the student body about the importance of French and its influence. Wings were made last year instead of posters. If you would want to see these posters for yourself, they are on display in the commons!
In the French III class, students adopted snails at the beginning of the year. They did this since they learned how snails are about to detect pollution, so the idea of them adopting them was to save them from doing that job. A backstory was created for the snails they adopted. Every week they have a project to do related to their snails. One of the projects was to write a story featuring their snails and possibly their classmates’ snails as well. They created drawings and pulled pictures from the internet to show off their snails. Only 15 words were allowed to be pulled from WordReference for this project. They peer-edited each other’s project, so Madame Tyson had almost no impact on the assignment itself. The final project they have to do is make journal stories about their snail and its life. The rationale behind all these projects is to make learning about French grammar more fun. To read and view these stories, check out this link here: Escargot Stories
