The continuing education fair was held in the Buchanan gym on Thursday, April 4th, and featured more than eighty options, ranging from two-year colleges, four-year colleges, military branches, and more. Sophomore, junior, and senior students were given the opportunity to walk around from table to table and speak to representatives from colleges they were interested in. Questions asked often were, “What majors are your school known for” or, “Would this be a good school for the major I’m interested in?”
Upon entering the gym, a handout of questions was given that could be used as a guide on what to ask about the colleges. This aided in resolving the issue of students not being sure what to say. The list included simple questions such as, “What makes your school unique” and, “What’s the surrounding area like?” Many students utilized this tool as a way to engage in meaningful conversations with the representatives.
There was a variety of types of schools, with technology institutions, art & design schools, health sciences, and film academies. Some of the colleges students gathered around the most were West Virginia University, University of Tennessee, Franklin & Marshall College, Florida Institute of Technology, Temple University, University of Delaware, and University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. The US Air Force, Army, Marines, and Navy tables were also well populated.
