Cheers of joy can be heard through the Buchanan gym as students shout Woo!” And “Yeah!” First Friday activities have now began!
The First Friday, a new tradition beginning on every first Friday of a new school year, is a fun way to bring in the school year!
Everyone is gathered into the gym to watch people from each class participate in games. Even teachers participate!
The pep rally begins with the band performance and the cheerleaders cheering.
The freshmen are also seen wearing royal blue, the sophomores wearing white, juniors wearing navy blue, and seniors wearing phenomenal pink.
These colors a.k.a color wars represent a certain class and is another new tradition beginning this year. The colors will follow the students throughout their academic career here at Hempfield and can be worn at any school event!
School spirit can be seen radiating off of everyone! And with games such as cereal eating, toilet paper wrapping, and even dance battles, smiles are brought to everyone’s faces.
Dr. Hough and the student council put time and effort into planning this event, even planning a dance to a Beyoncé song! While the planning lots of dedication, Dr. Hough most importantly wanted everyone to have fun and feel included which was executed perfectly due to the many compliments received.
After all, everyone loves Fridays!
