Reviewing the recent HHS Variety Show held last Saturday, I found the event to be a remarkable showcase of 25 distinct student talents. From vocal performances to the traditional Senior Girls Dance and impressive voice impressions, the diverse range of acts captivated the audience. Despite the modest attendance, the enthusiasm was palpable among both family members and classmates.
Each act was introduced by a member of the Hempfield Student Council, providing insights into the students’ motivations and talents. The evening unfolded with a blend of emotion, humor, passion, and dedication. Noteworthy performances included Celia Romero’s rendition of “Growing Sideways” by Noah Kahan, marked by her exceptional vocal clarity. The Senior Girls Dance added vibrancy to the Performing Arts Center, featuring pop-culture references and lively choreography.
Senior Noah Boudreaux showcased remarkable character impressions while reciting Clement C. Moore’s “The Night Before Christmas.” From Mario and Luigi to characters from “Family Guy,” his versatility garnered widespread laughter and recognition. Stephen Pitts, co-host of the Hempfield-based podcast “Off The Record,” delivered a breathtaking performance of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” as the final act. Pitts, a multifaceted contributor to the Hempfield High School community, showcased his singing prowess, concluding the show on a high note. To view this video, click here.
As the night concluded, the audience had the opportunity to vote for their favorite act. While maintaining impartiality on my vote, I anticipate the top 12 acts, determined by popular vote, will be featured in a subsequent showcase during the holiday season. I wish to express my gratitude to all individuals involved in the production of the show, encompassing the Student Council, teachers, and Stage Crew.
