The annual Variety Show at Hempfield High School has enchanted audiences for years, and this year’s event was no exception! Guests enjoyed a dazzling evening brimming with talent and creativity that kept everyone on the edge of their seats. The show showcased an incredible array of student and teacher talents, from stunning piano performances to impressive tumbling and dance routines, as well as vocalists and a 14-member band ensemble.
In the lead-up to the show, students participated in rehearsals and were asked about their reasons for joining the annual event. A few were chosen to share their thoughts on why they signed up and how they believe the show unites the Hempfield community. Many expressed that it was a fantastic opportunity to showcase their abilities, pursue their passions, and step out of their comfort zones, embracing the idea that we only live once. Myles Greer, who took part in the variety show, mentioned that he was inspired by the excitement he experienced while participating in last year’s musical, ‘Fiddler on the Roof,’ and dance theater.
When asked how the Variety Show fosters community spirit, students provided a range of responses. Some highlighted the welcoming atmosphere that helps forge friendships, while others, like Noah Haldeman, noted that it boosts confidence for participants who might not have had such opportunities before. Joxielys Morales, another performer, expressed that the show is a wonderful way to highlight unique qualities that individuals might not normally discuss. She believes it creates a positive environment for making connections and showing support, and ultimately provides a memorable high school experience that everyone should consider being a part of.
Hempfield’s Variety Show is an annual event that allows students and teachers to showcase their talents in front of the rest of the Hempfield community. All are welcome to audition, and the more unique the act, the better! Maybe next year, in 2025, it will be YOU up on that stage, showing just how special you are, for your peers and family.
